#1352 Verona Renova - Piazza delle Erbe
Verona, Italy (2020)
from the limited edition series “Verona Renova”

In an April 2020 marked by the lockdown, this photograph portrays a glimpse of Verona in which the historical center, usually lively, appears enveloped in an unprecedented calm. In the foreground, an elegantly structured well stands out, surrounded by historic buildings and dominated in the background by a tower that watches over the entire square.

The shot is part of Verona Renova , Alessandro Gloder 's project that comes to life from the anagram of "Verona" and the Latin phrase Res Nova ("new thing, renewal"). The image is included in the book of the same name Verona Renova , for sale on this website, and testifies how the city, devoid of the usual hustle and bustle, has revealed an unexpected beauty. The architectural details , the ancient stone and the harmony of the proportions invite you to rediscover the history and charm of an urban space usually hidden by the daily noise.

LIBRO VERONA RENOVA

ARE YOU INTERESTED IN THE BOOK VERONA RENOVA?

Verona Renova is a photography book featuring 115 black-and-white images taken in April 2020, during the lockdown, when the city revealed itself in an unprecedented light—silent and devoid of human presence. Conceived as a visual and historical record of a singular moment, the project offers an intimate, suspended view of Verona, portrayed in its architectural and poetic essence.

The volume, in a panoramic 22x31 cm format, includes 160 pages with texts in both Italian and English, written by journalists and scholars of the city. The printing was carried out by Trifolio, a Verona-based leader in the production of photography books, on paper supplied by Fedrigoni.
