#0262 Verona Renova - Case Mazzanti
Verona, Italy (2020)
from the limited edition series “Verona Renova”

This photograph , taken in April 2020 during the lockdown period, offers a unique glimpse of the heart of Verona , where the meeting of streets and historic buildings manifests itself in an almost surreal silence . The shot is part of the Verona Renova project by Alessandro Gloder , whose title comes from the anagram of "Verona" and the Latin phrase " Res Nova " (i.e. "new thing, renewal"), and aims to tell the story of the city in a phase of suspension and rediscovered beauty .

The image is included in the book of the same name, Verona Renova , available on this website. The absence of traffic and daily noise has highlighted the architectural details , the interiors of the streets and the charm of an atmosphere that invites us to linger on the history and aesthetics of these places. The combination of stone , light and shadow creates a contrast that makes this city perspective unique and evocative.

LIBRO VERONA RENOVA

ARE YOU INTERESTED IN THE BOOK VERONA RENOVA?

Verona Renova is a photography book featuring 115 black-and-white images taken in April 2020, during the lockdown, when the city revealed itself in an unprecedented light—silent and devoid of human presence. Conceived as a visual and historical record of a singular moment, the project offers an intimate, suspended view of Verona, portrayed in its architectural and poetic essence.

The volume, in a panoramic 22x31 cm format, includes 160 pages with texts in both Italian and English, written by journalists and scholars of the city. The printing was carried out by Trifolio, a Verona-based leader in the production of photography books, on paper supplied by Fedrigoni.
